Investigate shrinkage and loss

The Shrinkage page reports what stock went missing, what it cost, and which register activity is worth a second look — it is a read-only report, not where you write off stock.

1. The two headline numbers

Shrinkage is a read-only report — what went missing, what it cost, and where to look. Pick a period, then read the two headlines: Recorded losses (things someone wrote off) versus Unaccounted for (what a count found missing). Read the coverage line first for context.

2. Where to look

Drill into the loss By reason and the Worst items — ranked by money, not units, so losing two bottles of the good stuff outranks twenty cans. Under 'At the register', each person's voids, refunds, and overrides are compared to the store average; 'Worth a look' flags where to ask a question, never an accusation.
