Sell hemp, tobacco, vapes and other regulated products
Mark a product as consumable hemp, tobacco, a vape or alternative nicotine and the register always asks for a 21+ ID; Admin → Regulated products decides whether each store check warns, blocks or is off.
Steps
- Open Admin → Regulated products.
- If you sell consumable hemp, tick This store sells consumable hemp.
- If your store is inside an entertainment district, tick This store is inside an entertainment district.
- For each check, choose Warn the cashier, Block the sale, or Off. Every check starts on Warn.
- Click Save.
- Open each product in Inventory, and under Regulated product pick its Regulated type (Consumable hemp, Tobacco, Vape / e-liquid or Alternative nicotine), then tick what applies: On the state directory, FDA authorized, Cigarettes per pack, For immediate consumption, or Draft wine to go. Click Save changes.
- At the register, the warnings show above the totals while the item is in the cart. A check set to Block refuses the sale.
Good to know
- Two things are the law and always on: hemp, tobacco, vapes and nicotine always need a 21+ ID check at the register — even if your ID scan is off or set to alcohol only — and consumable hemp is always charged its hemp tax.
- The checks: hemp sold with no hemp retailer licence recorded; a vape that is not FDA-authorized when no specialty vape permit is recorded; a product not on the state directory; single cigarettes or a pack under 20; an immediate-consumption item in an entertainment district; draft wine over 128 oz in one container or 256 oz for one customer in a day.
- Record your hemp retailer licence or specialty vape permit under Compliance → Licences, with its licence class, and the matching warning stops.
- The daily draft-wine total counts the customer on the sale (attach them at the register) — online orders always have one.
- Nothing changes until you mark a product: a store that sells none of these sees no difference.
- FoolProof Business can manage any of these settings for your store; a managed one shows its reason and can't be changed here.
