Transfer stock between stores
Where your state allows it, move stock to another of your stores on Transfers — not in Alabama, where moving stock between separately licensed stores isn't permitted.
Steps
- Check your state first: transfers between stores aren't allowed in Alabama, so Alabama stores don't see Transfers in the menu.
- Where they're allowed, open Transfers from the menu (under Inventory) at the store sending the stock.
- Under Send to, choose the store, add a Note if you like, and click Start transfer.
- Search for each item, enter the Qty, click Add, then click Send — the stock leaves this store's on-hand.
- At the receiving store, open Transfers, click the transfer under Incoming, and click Receive.
Good to know
- In Alabama (a trade-practice rule), the Transfers menu item is hidden. If the page is opened anyway, Start transfer is refused with a message that moving inventory between stores isn't permitted in your state. It's blocked if either store is in a state that forbids it.
- Instead, each store buys and receives its own stock from the distributor — see Receive a delivery.
- Quantities are single units (bottles, cans, packs).
- Until it's sent you can remove a line (×) or click Cancel transfer.
- Outgoing lists what this store sent; Incoming lists what's headed here. Switch stores with the store switcher to work the other side.
- Transfers needs a second store in your organization.
